I just bought 2 beta fish, one for each of my kids. We have a big tank and they want to put them together. Will they fight if we put them together or is that just a myth?

It just depends on the fish. I have had more than one beta together. As long as its a decent size tank, say 10 gallons or more they will probably just stay away from each other. If you put them in a very confined space, like say a gallon fish bowl then you may have some problems if they are both males.
