I've always loved tropical fish. One of the appeals to tropical fish is the varying vibrant colors that they bring to any aquarium or pond. That's one reason I love my tropical fish. I have several friends who also own tropical fish and the one thing I hear from them more than anything els4e is
"I have the same fish you have but your fish are so much more colorful than mine. Why?"
Well to bring out the color of your fish you have to feed them right. Now I don't simply mean that you have to keep them healthy, though health is important also.
For instance if a person goes on a carrot juice diet and drinks too much carrot juice (and this happened to my brother's son) eventually his skin will literally turn orange.
In a similar sense this principle applies to tropical fish. Certain foods will bring out a fish's color. Marigold for example will bring out more vibrant yellows in fish. If you really want that electric yellow Cichlid to shine you want to feed it fish food that has Marigold in it.
Other agents that enhance color are chili pepper testosterone and Canthaxanthin, which is a naturally produced pigment found in plants and animals. Now the best way to get these chemicals in your fish is to use color enhancing fish foods that have them already in it.
I've been raising and breeding tropical fish for 15 years. I've tried a number of products to enhance the color of my fish and I've even tried making my own feed, with some success. Hands down though the best product I have found to feed my fish and bring out those beautiful colors that really make your indoor aquarium a living breathing piece of art is
Tetramin Tropical CrispsI started using Tetramin about 4 years ago and I was shocked by the difference I saw in the brightness or the colors in my fish.
